Urban Planner Garner Stoll to Speak on ‘Trails and Walkability: Critical Components of Successful 21st Century Cities' at Oklahoma City Museum of Art

Greater Oklahoma City Parks & Trails Foundation is partnering with the Oklahoma City Museum of Art to host one of the nation’s most preeminent urban planners, Garner Stoll, as a guest speaker. The breakfast presentation will be 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12 in the Noble Theater at OKCMOA, located at 415 Couch Dr. in Downtown Oklahoma City.

Stoll’s appearance in Oklahoma City will focus on the importance of parks, trails and public spaces to the vibrance of a community and its economy, said Greater Oklahoma City Parks & Trails Foundation Director, Marsha Funk. His talk, entitled Trails and Walkability: CriticalComponents of Successful 21st Century Cities, will be followed by a panel discussion.

There is no charge to attend the breakfast, which welcomes business and community leadership from across the Metro. Continental breakfast and coffee will be provided in the lobby prior to session.

ABOUT GARNER STOLL, AICP

Stoll has extensive experience in Urban Planning and Community Development. While working for Lincoln, Nebraska and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he spearheaded the development of city-wide trails plans, which both have since been substantially constructed.

Stoll is also known for his work in Austin, Texas on “Imagine Austin,” that city's first comprehensive plan in 30 years. Imagine Austin won the 2014 Sustainable Plan Award from the American Planning Association. His work in Parker, Colorado included collaborating with the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation on trails and active living demonstration projects. In Fayetteville, Arkansas, he worked on a master plan to transform State Highway 71 through Fayetteville into a walkable multi-mode corridor, which is currently under construction.

At the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, award-winning urban planner Garner Stoll and a moderated panel of local leaders and outdoor enthusiasts gathered for a breakfast talk on the importance of parks, trails and public spaces to the vibrance and economic vitality of Oklahoma City. "Trails and Walkability: Critical Components of Successful 21st Century Cities" was presented by the Greater Oklahoma City Parks & Trails Foundation with support from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation.
